What If?

What if you could add social media to your site in one day?

What if your site scaled to millions of users out of the box?

What if it didn’t involve any up-front costs and you could pay as you go?

MediaPlug provides all this and more. MediaPlug is a web service that allows users to upload complex multi-media files, transcode them to a standard format (e.g. Flash, JPG, or PDF) and store them on Amazon S3 storage. To use the service, a website operator simply integrates the MediaPlug plug-in (available in Rails and PHP) into their site. The plug-in communicates with the MediaPlug web service to handle all the uploads, transcoding, and storage. The end user never leaves the website, the MediaPlug service is completely transparent.

With MediaPlug, website operators can add social media (images, audio, and video) to a website in a fraction of the time, at a fraction of the cost, and without the need to learn complex video transcoding systems. In addition, uploads are offloaded to MediaPlug servers to reduce the burden on the customer website. Large files are not problematic. Files never hit the customer website, so customers never have to worry about issues of scaling based on uploads.
